SRI on the agenda of the French presidential elections

Hollande proposes social ratings of companies
The socialist candidate for president, François Hollande, suggests that an evaluation of the social condition of the companies should be provided to all their shareholders. There is no reason, he explains, that no label exists to reward companies which make an effort to improve their social responsibility. It is about directing the savings of employees and investment funds, not only according to financial ratios but also social criteria.
It is the first time that a political leader evokes the social or extra-financial rating. The general secretary of the CFDT, François Chérèque, supports this idea. “Social ratings exist”, stressing the fact that the former head of CFDT Nicole Notat created an agency, Vigeo, which objective is to note companies based on their social behaviour”.
Several press releases referred to Vigeo following the proposal of François Hollande. Some examples to be consulted: L’Expansion-L’Express, Les Echos, L’AFP, LCI-TF1.
Vigeo is the supplier of company profiles, analysed by Forum Ethibel. To learn more about the relation between Forum Ethibel and Vigeo, read our history and the procedures of collecting information for the assessment.
