Green, social and ethical retail funds in Europe
November 19, 2014

Vigeo has recently launched its annual update of the report "Green, Social and Ethical Funds in Europe", in collaboration with Morningstar. This 14th edition looks at the evolution of the European SRI market between June 2013 and June 2014.

The research demonstrates that the European retail market for SRI funds continues to grow. Total assets under management (AUM) for European SRI retail funds rose from 108 billion euro last year to 127 billion euro this year. In terms of market share SRI funds remain a niche accounting for 1,7% of the total AUM, thereby confirming their relative weight of last year.

Notwithstanding the positive overall picture, reporting at the country level shows highly heterogeneous data. Whereas the market share of SRI retail funds accounts for a remarkable 17,8% of the total retail market in the Netherlands, more moderate percentages are found in, for instance, the UK (2,3%) or Germany (3,1%).
